Leo Helmers is the co-Founder and Group Head of Susquehanna Private Capital, LLC. Previously, he was the Founder of LMZ Partners, LLC, an investment firm focused on middle market private equity investments. Prior to founding LMZ, Mr. Helmers served as a Senior Advisor, Fund Head, and Managing Director at The Carlyle Group (“Carlyle”), where he co-founded Carlyle’s mezzanine investment strategy, raising two funds: Carlyle Mezzanine Partners I, LP, a $436 million partnership in May 2006, and Carlyle Mezzanine Partners II, LP, a $554 million partnership in February 2009. He currently chairs the Board of Directors of Sunrise Transportation Holdings and serves on the Board of LeverPoint Management. Prior to joining Carlyle in August 2003, Mr. Helmers served as Senior Vice President at TCW/Crescent Mezzanine Partners, LLC (“TCW”), one of the largest independent mezzanine funds, where he was responsible for investing and managing a portfolio of mezzanine capital across three private limited partnerships. Prior to joining TCW, he was a Managing Director at Hamilton Lane Advisors, Inc, where he led the firm’s due diligence on fund investments and co-investments. Mr. Helmers served on numerous boards of his portfolio companies, including experiences as Chairman and members of Audit and Compensation Committees. Mr. Helmers is a member of the Board of Trustees of Lafayette College, where he is a member of the Grounds & Property Committee, and chairs the Investment Committee of the College’s endowment fund. Mr. Helmers serves on the Board of Trustees of the Shipley School, where he chairs the Investment Committee of the school’s endowment fund. He is also a member of the Board of Advisors to the Fox School of Business at Temple University. Mr. Helmers is a CFA® charterholder. He received his M.B.A. from Temple University and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Lafayette College.
